This is my first review so excuse any mistakes I make.
FLIGHT: SINGAPORE (SIN) TO KOH SAMUI (USM)
PLANE: AIRBUS A320-100
Starting off at the airport, Silkair gives you a nice welcome with a business class check-in. You can also use the Singapore Airlines one if you wish. The check-ins have a nice carpet on which you step on. After the check-in, I proceeded to security, which at Singapore is nicely arranged making it easy to get through. After doing some shopping, I proceeded into the Singapore Airlines Krisflyer Silver Lounge, which is can be used by Singapore Airlines and SIlkair business class passengers. There was a nice selection of food and drinks and a toilet which contained a shower. The staff was kind as well, and there was a great selection of newspapers for the average business man. After leaving the lounge it was time to board the plane. Being an old plane, it still featured SilkAir’s old business class seats, although this did not really bother me. Since it was only a 2-hour flight, the seats did not recline fully, but they were comfortable enough. Upon boarding, I was handed a welcome drink and a magazine. There was an adequate amount of legroom but a lot of it would end up being taken by any luggage that you decided to leave by your legs. After take-off, I was presented with a menu with various different options. I chose the chicken meal. It didn’t taste up to business class standards, see below for a picture, so I was left disappointed. Another disappointing thing was the IFE on the plane. There was no screen and rather you had to your own device to watch anything. Sadly though there was a very small selection of movies and tv-shows, really something that SilkAir need to work on. After attempting to watch one episode of Big Bang Theory, I tried to sleep. The seats were comfortable enough for me to get at least 20 minutes of sleep before waking up for arrival at Koh Samui.
Overall thoughts:
Price: I’m rating it as a 5/10. It cost around 1600 round trip on business class, and in the end, it was not worth it really.
